Spain Iberian Lynx
Small-group hide-based wildlife photography trips

The rolling hills and scrub forests of central Spain are home to one of the world’s rarest wild cats...
The Iberian Lynx.
A true symbol of Europe’s wild heritage.

This region offers some of the best opportunities to photograph the Iberian Lynx in its natural environment, using professional hides located along its favourite routes and near quiet waterholes.

Each day includes early-morning and late-afternoon hide sessions, designed for the best light and greatest chance of sightings.
Between sessions, enjoy the charm of rural Spain — peaceful villages, traditional food, and timeless landscapes.

A journey of patience, stillness, and the unforgettable thrill of seeing a wild lynx.
What Makes This Trip Special

Purpose-built photographic hides offer an ethical and intimate way to observe one of Europe’s most elusive predators.

No baiting, no disturbance, just patience and quiet reward.

Each hide has been carefully chosen for its proven lynx activity, giving you the best possible chance of encounters in natural light and settings.

Small groups allow for a calm, focused experience, with support for photographers of all levels.

Who Is This Experience For?

This unique photographic journey is for those who love nature, wildlife, and the quiet magic of waiting for something truly special to appear.

You don’t need to be a professional photographer. Just patient, curious, and happy to spend time surrounded by nature.

Perfect for travellers who enjoy small groups, a relaxed pace, and the rare opportunity to see and photograph the Iberian Lynx in the wild.
Where We Stay

Our base is Hotel Ecológico El Tora in Santa Cruz de Mudela
A welcoming, family-run hotel around a 15-minute drive from the hides.

Each room is ensuite, air-conditioned, and has Wi-Fi and a small fridge.
Breakfast is served in the café each morning, while lunches and dinners can be enjoyed at nearby restaurants serving traditional Spanish dishes.

Located in the heart of a quiet Spanish town, it’s just a short walk to local restaurants and shops.
A comfortable and friendly place to unwind after your time in the hides.
Equipment

A tripod is essential for photographing from the hides, helping to keep your camera steady and ready when the lynx appears.

A zoom lens in the range of 100–400mm works well, with an aperture of f/2.8 or f/4 ideal for lower light.

Bring plenty of memory cards and spare batteries — shooting quietly and being ready for sudden movement makes all the difference.

Light, neutral-coloured clothing is recommended to blend in with the surroundings.

If you’re unsure what to bring, I’ll be happy to offer guidance before the trip.
Hide Comfort & Facilities

The hides are equipped with desk chairs for comfort and designed for long sessions in silence.

Some of the larger hides (up to 8 people) have a toilet inside.
The smaller hides (maximum 2 people) do not, and once inside, you’ll need to remain until the session ends.
It’s best to go easy on the morning coffee ... or bring a discreet pee bottle just in case!
